This course is designed to give the officer the tools needed in order to be successful as an armed security officer. This 45-hour course provides the Level III training and certification that is required by the State of Texas Department of Public Safety – Private Security Board, which includes both classroom and firearms range qualification. This certification is required to qualify as an Armed Security Officer in the state of Texas. Topics to be covered are Laws, Report Writing, Crime Scenes, Patrol Services, Use of Force, Conflict Resolution, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Baton, OC, and Firearms.

Required Materials:

• Handgun with holster
• .38 caliber revolver (or larger caliber) or a semiautomatic 9mm (or larger caliber). If you qualify with a revolver, you will receive a revolver endorsement (R) on your license and you will only be able to carry a revolver only while on duty. If you qualify with a semiautomatic, you will receive the semiautomatic (SA) endorsement and will be able to carry either a semiautomatic handgun or a revolver while on duty.
